What is Cooking in My Kitchen?

Although I do not cook as much as I probably should, I do like to dabble in the culinary arts. For one, art is my middle name. My favorite thing to make is Katy's famous "Cake Batter Cookies." Well I wish they were famous. The recipe is very simple, and now I'm going to tell you how you can make your own Katy's Cake Cookies.
Gather All Ingredients and Utensils
Ingredients:
  • Any cake mix you desire
  • 1/2 cup of softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Chocolate, butterscotch, or peanut butter chips, or anything you like in your cookies
Supplies:
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Spoon or Scooper
  • Sheet Pan
  • Oven

First Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Warm Butter in the large mixing bowl (double batch in picture)

Mix in the cake batter and eggs.
Add chips.

Spoon or scoop cookies onto a sheet pan. To keep from the cookies mooshing together; put cookies diagonal on the pan with enough room to put another scoop in between them.

Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool for about 2 minutes. (This completes the cooking process)

Let cookies cool on a cooling rack or a clean surface.

Finally the best step: Eat the delicious cookies. Enjoy!
Now you have learned how to make Katy's Cake Cookies.

People Watching

Sitting here at Cafe 101 on the OTC main campus. Eating the number three: Chicken dippers with macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. I sit here, watching people as they walk by. Coming to and from the cafe. Getting their food; and then sitting down at a table (usually by themselves) or heading to their next class. I have my headphones in. Listening to my favorite Pandora station (Disney). I can't hear anyone around me. They would be able to come right up to me and scare me without even trying. Every once in a while I look up. Glance at the people going by and then go right back to studying for my test. Yes, it is hard to listen to music, eat, study, and write this post all at the same time; but I think I am managing to complete all of the before mentioned tasks. It isn't easy being at school all day long. I get tired of people passing me, not knowing them and having them look at you and awkwardly smile because you do not want to say “hi” to a stranger. I would openly say hi every once in a while just to get the weird reaction since no one says hi to one another; but I prefer to mix it up a bit. Do not get me wrong, I like being alone so I can study. Sometimes you just have to be nice. You never know, you could be making someones day just by smiling and saying hi. Have you made someone smile today?

My Night

My parents have their best friends over tonight. They have twins. A boy and girl; Sam and Zoey. They are four years old and full of energy. We are currently watching The Muppets videos on YouTube. It is just about time for the twins to go to bed; and then the parents will watch a movie that the little ones would not be able to watch.

I have a debate. Watch a movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and “ooo and ah” over his sexiness even though he is extremely old (My mom also commented about his age). The other option is to lie on my bed and play on my phone. This debate has its ups and downs; be with my parents or alone. I might possibly just lie in my room and take an early night. Then I realize that I have a lot to do. I have been cleaning the house for my parent’s friends. I tell my mom that I need to go do my homework (she said that was the right choice). So I am here writing my blog and then more homework. Well I am about to finish, but I must say a farewell to my readers.

Good night blog world. I will see you tomorrow.

My First Job

Many teenagers would say that their first job was at a fast food joint like McDonald's or Burger King. Well, that was not the case me. My first job was at a park, a BIG park. They had five softball fields, a baseball field, a swimming pool, a field for football, and then the actual park. It was a long and hard job. I was covered in dirt from head to toe every single day when I came home (I can still sometimes feel the dirt compacted behind my ears). I started my first job the Monday after I graduated from high school; never had worked a day before in my life. I went from never working to working eight hours a day, five days a week. Mowing for five hours straight at times. Weed eating like no ones business (Which I had never done before in my life. In shorts I might add). Picking up trash, and cleaning bathrooms; since I was the only girl on staff. I came home one hot sunny day with a sunburn that was only on one side of my body because I had been sitting down on the mower the entire time. Of course, every girl wants to have an awesome farmers tan; but hey, it was the darkest I had been in a long time. All in all, I would have to say that it was a good first job. It taught me discipline and hard work. I am very glad that I do not work there anymore though. Working outside in the longing heat on a bright summers day is not what I would like to do for the rest of my life. It was good, but some things have to come to an end.

My Passion

If you do not know me, you would still figure out what my favorite thing in the world to do is.

Singing, playing the violin and piano are my favorite things to do. I have grown up with music my entire life. It has always been a huge part of me. I have sung for as long as I can remember; probably before I could even talk. I started playing the violin when I was in 5th grade. So, going on 9 years now. I just starting playing piano this past semester and I have fallen in love with it. I knew how to play some of the really simple songs and pick out specific notes from a song I was singing in choir. I never thought I would be able to play both hands doing completely different things at the same time. I finally begged my parents enough to get me a pedal for my keyboard at home; that way it would sound closer to a real piano. I have wanted to something involving music as my career for a long time. Being able to go to work every day and do what I love to most is the best feeling in the world. It is what pushes me every day to work hard in school and in everything I do. I want to major as a music therapist. If I cannot do that, then I would like to do something in the health field or music education. I know many of the music programs are very hard to get into; but if you put your heart and soul into it, anything is possible.

This is the reason that music is my passion. Why it is a part of me. Why it is everything that I want to do in life.

My name is Katy, and music is my life.

I Believe that God has the Perfect Plan for My Life

My last post "This I Believe" number two is the one I chose to write more about. This is completely free writing and I am just trying to see how many words I can write in 10 minutes. Here we go!

I Believe that God has the Perfect Plan for My Life
I believe that God has the perfect plan for my life. No matter what the circumstances. I want to live my life the way God has planned for me. I want him to work through me to help people in need. I can not wait to go on my missions trip to Kenya this summer. I know God will be working in all of our hearts that are able to go. I want to be a true child of God in everything I do. He is the creator of all things. I am completely indebted to him. He is my Lord and Savior. My shelter. He is and will always be there for me. Even when I do not want him there because I am mad; He will still be there with open arms. He is an awesome God. He has put me in situations that I never thought I would be able to go through; but he knew that I would make it through it. He knew that I would grow from those experiences. He works in crazy ways, but if he didn't I wouldn't be where I am today. He is my God. He can be your God too. He loves every single one of us with all of His heart. As I said before, he wouldn't put you through anything you couldn't handle. Everything has a purpose. From your lowest of lows, to your highest of highs. He will always be there.

I just wrote 10 minutes straight. I realize that it wasn't as hard as it seemed. I wrote 245 with 1156 characters in 10 minutes. I never would have thought that I could write that much and it actually make since that fast.

15. I believe I am beautiful.
16. I believe that true beauty comes from ones heart.
17. I believe that age is but a number.
18. I believe God loves everyone of us.
19. I believe that my heart will know when it is right.
20. I believe that no one can judge you by the way you look or act.
21. I believe that you do not need makeup to be beautiful.
22. I believe that the music you listen to can determine what mood you are in.

As my timer goes off, I think about all the things I could still have written. Still, 22 in 10 minutes isn't bad. I will be posting again about one of these 22 "I believes" and see how much I can write in 10 minutes about one subject.
